My Face Masks Business
How I accidentally started a face masks business on the side.
When this whole pandemic hit the US, everyone was scrambling for PPE(Personal Protective Equipment) to increase their chances of not catching COVID-19. The N95 respirators were the most sought after item because N95 respirators are made of unique material that removes at least 95% of even the small droplets. They’re also manufactured to fit with a tight seal around the nose and mouth so air and viral particles can’t get around the side of the respirator.
“There are severe strains on protective equipment around the world,” said Dr. Michael J. Ryan
With the natural behavior of some people, a run on these N95 respirators that were already in small supply caused a more significant supply issue — resulting in price gouging of these masks sold to individual people and government agencies.
A contractor promised FEMA 10 million masks for $55 million. It did not deliver.
Then government officials came out requesting that regular citizens stop buying N95 respirators…
